The homologation measurement is carried out in accordance with the NEDC (New European Driving Cycle), a standardised driving cycle for Europe. It produces a comparative value and provides customers with a benchmark for evaluating different vehicles from different manufacturers in terms of their consumption characteristics. Driving behaviour is usually different in practice, which means that the homologation figures and the real-world consumption can only be compared with one another to a limited extent. From 2017 the “WLTP” will take effect as a homologation cycle. There, higher speeds and higher acceleration will be realised. The WLTP is therefore more practice-oriented.
