I have been taking Saw Palmetto 450 MGS twice a day. I am 67. It is by the Sundown Corp.
For a year, I have taken this product. I think it is worthless. I had to result in going to a Urologist for the many peeing trips in a 24 hour period. I take Tamsulosin twice a day to help urine flow, and oxybutynin er 10 MG once a day, For urine urgency to pee. The OXYBUTNIN is helping. The Tamsulosin is SO SO. I have been having this problem for 4 years. Taking all those advertised prostate products is dangerous and most are worthless. See a Urologist if it is becoming a bathroom problem.

I use to compete in the 90s bodybuilding naturals but then progressed to using some form of T. years later, I’m now 56 years young. I started male pattern baldness young so I don’t really have an issue with it now, but nonetheless I want to save what I do have as I have heard so many negative things about the conversion to the nasty androgens on the scalp. I had been taking saw Palmetto thinking it would save me from what my grandfather and dad had prostate wise. In my move from Australia to Canada I had put on some weight yet my diet was quite clean. What’s causing this I wondered.

Studies of a hexanic extract of S. repens suggests it decreases prostaglandin and leukotriene production to inhibit the arachidonic acid cascade and decreases B lymphocyte infiltrates and interleukin (IL)-1b and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-a levels to adjust inflammatory status and gene expression  (36) . In animal models of prostate hyperplasia, it demonstrated a global anti-inflammatory effect on hyperplastic prostates with lobe-specific anti-androgenic effects  (44) . In human prostate and vascular cells in an inflammatory environment, it also decreases monocyte chemotactic protein-1 production and vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 expression  (37) . In human prostate carcinoma cells, inhibitory effects on cell growth were attributed to downregulation of inflammatory-related genes and activation of nuclear factor-kappa B pathway  (45) .
